Couple quick TV-related items.
QR Codes are not risk-free
If you watched the Super Bowl, you may have seen an ad that was mostly a floating QR code. QR codes grew a LOT more popular in COVID as restaurants went to touch-free menus, for example, but be aware that, like any other type of link, they can be used to lure you to unsafe sites. The FBI recently issued a warning about this; read more here.
That doesn’t mean QR codes are dangerous; it means that you shouldn’t assume they are safe. Be wary if you are asked to enter personal or sensitive information on a QR-code linked site.
Oscars 2022
There’s so much great stuff to watch these days, and so much confusion about where and how to watch it (not to mention the cost of subscribing to multiple different streaming services). How’s a person supposed to keep track of all the Oscar movies?
If you’re me, you make a Google sheet, which is available to you for freehere. It’s a great opportunity to dip a toe in Google sheets if you haven’t used them before.
A few notes about how to use it:
- You’ll need a Gmail account OR a Google account. A Google account is just a Gmail account minus the email part using your own, non-Gmail, email address. Either way, it’s free.
- You can’t edit the original version, but from the File menu you can make your own editable copy of the list, or download it, or print it.
- Feel free to share with your friends!
More info about the movies themselves is available in this excellent Time magazine list.
